Drones and archaeology
Since 2010 the laboratory has been studying and experimenting on integrated systems of documentation and archaeological research in the field through the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), otherwise known as drones.
The activities were developed in collaboration with the Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell’Informazione, Elettronica e Telecomunicazioni (DIET: Department of Information Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications) of the “La Sapienza” University of Roma and the Oben company of Sassari.
Together with Marco Milanese, Maria Grazia Melis, Director of LaPArS, coordinated the “ULTRA - UAV and LiDAR Technology for Remote Sensing in Archaeology” project, funded by the Regione Autonoma della Sardegna (Autonomous Region of Sardinia) as part of the INNOVA.RE programme, a development scheme combining University and Business in the form of a pilot project. (2014-2015).
